Slow Cooker Cabbage Rolls (Halupki) Recipe

Slow Cooker Cabbage Roll (halupki) Recipe

Ingredients:

10 cabbage leaves
1/2 cup uncooked rice or quinoa
1 egg beaten ( I didn't have any so I used 1/4 cup vegetable oil)
1/4 cup milk
1/4 minced onion
1 clove minced garlic
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
1 lb ground beef, turkey or chicken

Sauce ingredients:

1 - 15 oz can tomato sauce
2 tbsp brown sugar
2 tbsp lemon juice or apple cider vinegar
2 tsp Worcestershire sauce

I didn't use any of this I just used the tomato sauce.

Combine rice, egg, milk, onion, garlic, meat, salt and seasonings in a large bowl. If you want more veggies you could add cut up carrots and celery instead of the rice.

Bring a large pot to a bowl and then add your cabbage and cook for 2 minutes. You want them tender but still firm so they hold when they are rolled.

Take one cabbage leave and scope some of the meat mixture into the center and then roll up. Put into the crock pot. Repeat this step until done.

Once all cabbage is in the crock pot mix up your sauce and pour over the cabbage. If you like a lot of sauce double it but just remember cabbage is a lot of water so you will have a lot more liquid when done cooking.

Cook on low setting for 8 hours or on high for 4-5 hours.

This was really good and I will be making it again. My hubby liked it too, check out his plate below!
Enjoy
